Nominate your gene

The KOMP2 Phase 3 project at UC Davis is producing and phenotyping knockout mice for 409 genes from now until mid-2027. This project is part of the International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium (IMPC) which aims to define the function of all human orthologous genes in the mouse genome.

Our focus is on genes with heretofore undescribed yet potentially important functional roles in health and disease… the "dark genome."

Therefore, we invite you to nominate a gene for production and phenotyping. Please fill out the very brief nomination form below.

Once we receive your nomination, we’ll determine whether it meets KOMP2 criteria (not already done, human ortholog, etc).

If selected, we'll prioritize your gene for production and phenotyping, at no charge to you.
If not accepted, you can request the UC Davis Mouse Biology Program to make and/or phenotype it for you as a fee-for-service.

For additional details or to explore data on previously knocked-out lines, please visit the IMPC website at https://www.mousephenotype.org.

Sample justifications
Implicated by genetic studies for a role in a disease
Known function in a physiology/cellular function/disease process
Target for drug discovery
Mutant would be important model for studying a process or disease
